Tablet disintegration performance: Effect of compression pressure and storage conditions on surface liquid absorption and swelling kinetics

The disintegration process of pharmaceutical tablets is a crucial step in the oral delivery drug. Tablet does not only refer to break up interparticle bonds, but also relates liquid absorption and swelling behaviour tablet. This study demonstrates use sessile drop method coupled with image processing models analyse surface kinetics four filler combinations (microcrystalline cellulose (MCC)/mannitol, MCC/lactose, MCC/dibasic calcium phosphate anhydrous (DCPA) DCPA/lactose) croscarmellose sodium as disintegrant. Changes performance these formulations were analysed by quantifying effect compression pressure storage condition on characteristic parameters. results indicate that MCC/mannitol MCC/lactose are driven behaviour. For MCC/DCPA formulation, both characteristics affect time, whereas DCPA/lactose primarily controlled various excipients. approach discussed this enables rapid (<1 min) assessment properties related tablet inform design settings conditions.
